Habitat Assessment on Prairie Creek

SWMTU has been working on a Watershed Management Plan for Prairie Creek, a trout stream on the east side of our chapter boundary (between Ionia and Sheridan). There are some upcoming opportunities for Schrems members to volunteer for this important effort to enhance this relatively unknown, quality coldwater fishery. 

Volunteers are needed on the following days starting at 10 a.m.:

• August 31 – Fish Sampling
• September 2 – Macroinvertebrate Sampling
• September 7 – Habitat Assessment

No prior experience needed. This is a wonderful opportunity to have hands-on experience learning about trout biology and habitat. You might also get a peek at a lesser-known stream. Interested? Contact Jacob Robbins at [email protected].
