Online fundraising event announced

SWMTU Conservation Benefit Auction

The Board of Directors of Schrems West Michigan Trout Unlimited sincerely hopes that you, your family, and friends are in good health and doing well as we continue to navigate this strange and difficult time.

We do want to point out that that we continue to work to protect and improve West Michigan’s coldwater resources. To that end this year we have:

  • Limited our fieldwork requiring only small workgroups such as installing temperature monitors on the Muskegon River and Prairie Creek,
  • Initiated discussions with other stakeholders to make habitat improvements in the White River,
  • Held two successful membership events via Zoom featuring guides Kevin Feenstra and Brad Petzke.

However, due to the restrictions on large gatherings, we first rescheduled our banquet to October and then canceled it altogether until such time these restrictions can be lifted.

In lieu of the banquet, we will be hosting our first Schrems TU Conservation Benefit Auction on EventGroove, an online event platform supported by Trout Unlimited. The online portion of this fundraiser will held be from October 9-13, 2020 culminating on Tuesday, October 13 at 8 PM with a live (Zoom) auction event hosted by auctioneer extraordinaire, Glen Blackwood.

Currently, Schrems is actively engaged in five watersheds. We will continue to inform you of volunteer opportunities, although those activities currently have limitations. As we build our partnerships in West Michigan, we will be offering more ways for our members to get directly involved.

More details for our online auction including instructions on how to participate and a complete list of the items available will be available shortly. In the meantime, please put this date on your calendar and tell your friends and encourage your fellow anglers to participate. We need your support so we can to continue to generate the funds required to continue to protect, restore and reconnect West Michigan’s coldwater resources so that they are there to be enjoyed by future generations.

At Your Service,
Lance Climie
