Home Rivers Initiative
It was reported that a coordinated work crew and volunteer workdays are planned to plant tree plugs and live stakes in the Rogue River and Pere Marquette watersheds.
A tree planting event was recently held at East Rockford Middle School and Grant Christian School.
Trout Unlimited recently made a presentation about the STREAM Girls program to a group of EPA staff members.
Conservation
PRAIRE CREEK – a tree and shrub planting was just completed on October 31, 2021. A fish assessment shocking planned for this year has been pushed back to 2022.
BUCK CREEK – the Rain Garden planting was recently completed at the Grandville Middle School.\
COLDWATER RIVER – an Embrace a Stream fundraising event is about to begin. News of the event should be on our website (swmtu.org) shortly. The Orvis Company will kindly donate dollar for dollar, up to $1,000.00 to support this program.
Annual Fundraising Banquet
The chapter’s fundraising banquet will be held, in person, Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the Watermark Country Club in Grand Rapids. Details will be available very soon. Please join us for this fun and worthwhile event. We will have guide trips, fly fishing gear, artwork, and more kindly donated by our wonderful sponsors, to be auctioned off, with the funds raised to be used for our many cold water Trout Unlimited projects.
Salmon in the Classroom
Salmon eggs will be distributed to the many schools that Schrems sponsors in the Salmon in the Classroom program on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at the Wolf Lake Hatchery in Mattawan. Schrems board members will be on hand to help out.
Membership Gatherings
Schrems is looking into having a Zoom seminar and an in-person seminar in the early months of 2022. We will be sure to let you know when these might take place.
