Fly tying competition from GRFT

This comes to us courtesy of Christopher Soule, President of Grand River Fly Tyers …

The Grand River Fly Tyers are celebrating their tenth year anniversary and as such have lots of activities lined up.

We would like to announce our first annual Fly Tying Competition!  This is a free event to enter, however, space is limited (35).  It is pretty straightforward – there will be three categories you may enter flies in, dry (anything that floats – parachutes, poppers, mice, emergers, etc.), wet/nymph and streamer.  You may enter one or all categories at no cost to you.

The due date is coming quickly on Monday, May 5th.  Bring your submissions to our general meeting that evening in the building behind Hillside Community Church:  1440 68th St. – just West of Kalamazoo Ave.  The hours are 6:30 – 8 p.m.

Please contact Christopher if you plan to participate or would rather mail in your flies ([email protected]).  If you choose to mail an entry please make sure I receive them by May 9th.  Then, on Monday, May 19th we will have an awards ceremony, silent auction, 50/50 raffle and more fun and a hot dog cart!

This could be a lot of fun – let’s see what you’ve got tyers!
