As part of a 2018 Embrace A Stream grant, contractors hired by SWMTU along with other partners such as the Coldwater River Watershed Council, opened up about 20 logjams this past spring and summer on the Coldwater River between Messer Road and the Coldwater River Park.
As trees were removed from the center runs, sediment began to clear with the faster moving water, exposing gravel beds. The re-organized woody debris will help provide fish cover, stabilize banks, and opening new spawning beds.
