Cast n’ Blast 2026- SWMTU & RGS

The Grand Rapids Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society and Schrems Trout Unlimited will host their 16th annual Cast & Blast with proceeds supporting both organizations’ youth educational programs. This year’s event will be “Bigger than Ever,” featuring thirty 4-gun teams – A/B squads (8 guns) at each of the 15 stations. Those fielding both A/B squads will receive raffle tickets worth $100.
Following the 50-shot sporting clays course, participants can test their rod handling skills on a fun but challenging fly-casting course. A prime rib dinner will follow a social/happy hour that includes complimentary craft beer from a local brewery. A raffle including many cool items follows dinner.
Novice shooters and casters are welcome! We will have expert instruction on the fundamentals of each sport. Everyone is welcome, and you do not need to be a current member of either organization to attend.
Fly rods will be available for the casting competition, but each shooter will be responsible for their own shotgun and shells. Shotgun shells are NOT included. Those bringing shells, no heavy loads, 7.5/8 shot only. Shotguns are also available for rent from KCCL at a nominal fee.
