Dick Smith, who was a long-time supporter of Schrems West Michigan TU, passed away on October 12, 2019 at the age of 76 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by Ellen, his wife of 54 years.
Dick was an active board member for SWMTU in the 1990s and 2000s who was often the point person on conservation and school education efforts. He was an avid outdoorsman with many outstanding tales to tell. In 2017 he and Ellen were honored by the chapter with the Cornelius Schrems Award. A celebration of life is planned for Friday, October 18, 4-7pm at Qua-Ke-Zik Sportsman’s Club, 8731 Riverside Dr., Saranac, MI 48881 where friends and family will gather to celebrate Dick’s life. Casual dress. Special thanks to Faith Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Coldwater River or Flat River Watershed Council. Envelopes will be available at the celebration.
