Mayors’ Grand River Clean Up
The 11th annual Mayors’ Grand River Cleanup begins Saturday, September 20th at Sixth Street Park. Over the years, thousands of volunteers have picked up more than 120,000 pounds of refuse from the banks of the Grand River and its tributaries in Grand Rapids, Walker, Grandville, and Wyoming.

Kent County Brook Trout Project
One of the largest projects involving SWMTU is underway this summer with tree plantings along the Rogue River. Coming up is removal of concrete from the old Childsdale Dam.

Buck Creek clean-up on August 12
There are some areas of Buck Creek that are over-run with garbage in the water and along the banks. If interested in participating, please contact Pete at 517-420-4003.

More than 19 million fish stocked this spring create plenty of opportunity for anglers
The DNR's Fisheries Division stocked a total of 19,382,390 fish that weighed 383 tons and consisted of 10 different species and one hybrid. To complete this task, it took nearly 400 stocking trips to 739 stocking sites.

3rd annual Muskegon River clean-up
Everyone’s welcome to join us in this effort of keeping the Muskegon River clean. This year’s goal is to beat last year’s 4,417 containers removed from the river. To be eligible for give-a-ways and the cook out, you must register at Bridgeton Boat Launch on the day of the clean-up. Launching begins at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 19.

New SWMTU board of directors elected
The SWMTU Chapter has voted in a slate of returning and new board of director members, and the board has elected new leadership for 2014-15.

Rogue River featured on WZZM TV
Nichole Stout and Jeff Edwards got a chance to represent the Rogue River Home Rivers Initiative and SWMTU on WZZM TV's "Aaron's Adventure: trout fishing on the Rogue River."

SMWTU helps out Project Healing Waters
Some of our SWMTU members were able to help Project Healing Waters by taking vets down the Muskegon River for an outing of trout and steelhead fishing.
